Vidova Gora
The Adriatic islands from their highest summit.
At 778 metres, Vidova Gora is the highest summit of the Adriatic islands. The reward is a high, clean view over Brač’s southern coast, Zlatni Rat below and Hvar across the channel, with the stony interior of the island behind you.
The story
The summit corrects the usual image of Brač as beaches and white-stone villages. Up here the island feels mountainous, exposed and much larger. Looking down toward Bol, you can see how quickly the plateau falls to the sea and why Zlatni Rat appears almost graphic from above.
Local tip. Visibility matters more than perfect sunshine. A crisp day after changing weather can be far more rewarding than a hot, hazy afternoon. Bring a layer even when the coast is warm and treat the mountain conditions separately from beach weather.
The view, light & timing.
Best photo position
A long lens isolates Zlatni Rat and the channel; a wide lens should include the rough foreground to communicate height. Avoid placing the cape dead centre in every frame — use Hvar and the channel to create depth.
Golden hour
Best light: late afternoon. Clear air and good visibility matter as much as colour; arrive early enough to watch the scene change rather than chasing one exact minute.
Worth the detour?
One of the strongest island panoramas in Croatia and worth planning around clear visibility.
